Kate is a registered counsellor and psychotherapist, who is skilled and passionate about one of the most important parts of being human,which is RELATIONSHIPS. This involves the relationships you have with yourself, your partner, your children and your family.
Everyone has the capacity for change and Kate works with her clients to provide strategies, tools and techniques to support you in achieving the life you want to live.
Sometimes clients come into counselling not really knowing what is stopping them or keeping them stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour; having a pre-set idea of what you want to achieve is therefore not a requirement. We will work together to help you define what it is you are seeking to change or understand.
Kate's therapy approaches include (but are not limited to);
Person Centred Therapy- the core of counselling work helping couples connect through solution finding;
Family Systems Therapy - looking at the impacts each person in the family has upon the other;
Mindfulness Therapy - a very popular therapy that teaches us the ability to be aware of and manage our thoughts, and to understand the values of the choices we make;
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - where anxious provoking thoughts and feelings are detached and assessed as entities of their own rather than part of you.
Emotional Focused Therapy- focusing on the emotions provoked as well as strengths based approaches.
Beach walks! - A very popular new approach to counselling, where walking and talking are incorporated. This is for individual counselling only.
Balance in your life
Life is all about balance. Whatever you are experiencing whether it is a relationship break up, depression, grief or anxiety, if you don't have balance in your life then the other parts of your well being cannot carry you along while you heal. Balance is achieved when your health, social, financial, relationships, spiritual and work parts are all being given the nourishment and attention they need to stay healthy. Kate can help you do this by teaching you how to recognise what in your life is out of balance, then helping you get back to an equally balanced and fullfilling life.
